Our Approach
Holistic child-led experiential learning
Holistic
A balanced focus on well-being, social and emotional development as well as core values including kindness, honesty, respect, resilience and independence. Our character development focus helps our children develop the full extent of their capabilities, talents and even academic success. Read more below about what every Paddington child strives to be.
Child-Led
Our curriculum sparks curiosity, exploration and creativity. It is designed to encourage children to be forward thinking and innovative. At Little Paddington, we respect our children and view them as competent thinkers and communicators. We have adopted an enquiry-based and research based approach which motivates children to identify their own issues and questions. Children acquire knowledge through examination and problem solving. “Knowledge so gained is more readily retained” because it has been acquired by exposure to real problems.
Experiential
We focus on hands-on project work and reflection. Each term we focus on a specific educational theme, which becomes the base for enquiry. We provide integrated learning experiences where children feel valued, confident and independent. Where appropriate, cross-curricular links are made to ensure that the learning is meaningful and relevant.
Limitless Possibilities
Our programmes offer a depth of learning across diverse areas including languages, creative arts, numeracy, appreciation of different countries and cultures, science and technology, motor skills and physical development.
The Paddington Child
Team
Workers
Team players, leaders and supporters. The Paddington Child can work well within a team in a variety of roles.
Independent Thinkers
Capable of developing and articulating independent thoughts, ideas and opinions. A Paddington Child can appreciate when collective thinking is beneficial to achieve an outcome.
Our culture creates an environment where children achieve their highest levels of excellence. Each Paddington child strives to be:
A Paddington Child practices empathy and accommodates the needs of others, with compassion and a friendly nature.
Social Caregivers
Capable of expressing ideas, needs and wants, a Paddington Child can communicate in an effective manner.
Communicators
Predictors
A Paddington Child can appreciate and predict the outcomes of his/her actions. By making connections and correlations, they can explore the ‘What If’ questions.
Being able to understand and grasp values such as honesty, reliability and objectivity; a Paddington Child thrives to be an ethical global citizen.
Principled
Reflectors
When it’s time to reflect through inquiry, a Paddington Child can appreciate and consider newly obtained knowledge.
Our Language-Arts immerse children into a literacy-rich environment so they can articulate their thoughts and ideas, and develop a love for languages. Our framework is designed to stimulate verbal interactions between children, whilst immersing them into an environment where they can use language as an expression.
Language Arts
Core Learning Areas
We use a correlation of music, art and dramatic-play for our children to reach developmental milestones. These activities form part of our Creative Arts curriculum, which develops artistic and creative progression, through perceptual, cognitive, language, and social skills.
Creative Arts
Science & Technology
We expose our children to logical and scientific concepts, where they can apply their enquiry and process skills to engaging activities. Our themes provide a rich environment for our children to observe, predict, investigate and conclude. We also enrich our science programme through field trips, and workshops hosted by experts and thought-leaders.
United Nations
Our curriculum encourages activities to ensure children learn about people from different countries and cultures, as well as the country they are from. We provide our children with opportunities to explore the world around them and ask questions. They are able to make close observations and carry out hands-on projects exploring 6 different countries each year.
Numeracy
Our numerical framework promotes the knowledge of numbers and sequences, to encourage problem-solving, pattern-recognition and connections with real-life scenarios. Our children learn to make meaningful connections that can be applied in their daily lives.
